New Bedroom!

I haven't had much to report lately, except that Dax is now crawling and on the move! And since he is on the move, he is crawling around and trying to put everything he can possibly find in his mouth. We've decided to start taking the carpet out of my home and put down laminate wood floors. I have always hated carpet, and all of the hair, dirt, dust, and just grossness it holds. It's hard to clean, and even after vacuumming, it never feels clean to me. I've been wanting to rip it out of our 3 bedrooms since we moved in two years ago, and the time has finally come. The rest of the house has ceramic and laminate. I wanted bamboo floors, but since it was out of our price range, we decided on Swedish Maple, to contrast with the darker shade we have in the rest of the house. Chris and my brother are tapping in the planks as we speak.. Squeals!!!

We are starting on the master bedroom, and I'm finally going to decorate the space after the new floors are put in. Our bedroom has just been a collection of mismatched items that I've collected over the years (mostly purple), and the walls are a goldish color with a bit of green in it. I did some color coordinating on the Behr website, and we decided to use a turquoise/ aqua as our accent color.. I would have never thought of using that! But it looked really nice in the color smart app, so we're going to give it a try. I bought a really nice black frame from Michael's yesterday, and framed my 'Persistence of Memory' print. It has some aqua in it, so it's going to make a great show. I have two other Dali prints framed in my living room, they are just so interesting! My best friend was kind enough to give me about 15 large prints that she had in a closet, and most of them were Dali. I couldn't have been happier- I love his work!

I took some time to browse on Etsy for some throw pillows, since our bedspread is a white chenille, and I came up with some great options. I thought I'd show off a few:

First up is a pillow by eleen, it's so modern and chic!

Next is a pillow with aqua and lime swirls, fabulous! Made by abrakadabra.

And finally, this lovely recycled felt pillow by alexandraferguson. Simply gorgeous!

I also found a vase that is to die for, from yogagoat:

I'll post some before and after pics once it's all complete!

Alice in Wonderland Invitations/ Save the Dates

Our Save the Dates are finally complete and ready to send out. I wanted them to be vintage and modern at the same time, so I came up with what I feel is a pretty good in between.

They are made out of white linen cardstock, and Curious Iridescent Morphing Mauve cardstock. (How curious indeed!) The metallic cardstock changes from purple to green when you move it back and forth in the light- which is perfect since my favorite color is purple and Chris' is green. Each save the date card is held closed by a band with clocks printed on them- with our wedding date. When you slide the band to the side, the details are revealed. It reads "It's Getting Late, so Save the Date!", with our names, date, and location underneath. The envelope is sealed with a label that reads "Open Me". I love them!

A couple of weeks ago someone approached me to make some Alice in Wonderland birthday invitations, and I was so excited! I ended up making coordinating Thank You cards and return address labels to go with them, and I have already sold quite a few sets. Apparently I am not the only one who loves Alice in Wonderland!

Teapot, Piano, and Interview

The past week has been soooo hectic. I've been swamped with work! Not that I'm complaining by any means =)

I finally got around to finishing up a design that has been lingering for a while now. It's actually going to be a birthday present for my mom tomorrow ( she loves teapots), but I know others will love it as well. It's a vintage teapot design with an initial on the front. It's printed on canvas textured card stock, which I think gives it that old feel.

Dax is growing so fast and I've been slacking on picture taking. He has a new favorite toy- our piano! He is sitting up so well now, he can sit on the piano bench! No worries- I am always right behind him in case he decides to take a spill. I also took him outside today to take some pictures to send to my mom tomorrow, and they are just too funny..

On a side note, WhoHub contacted me and asked me to do an interview for their website. If you'd like to know a little more about me, you can check it out here!

Alice in Wonderland Wedding Continued...

Of course I've been looking for unique ideas to go along with my Alice-inspired wedding, and I already have a super long list!

First and fave are these ultra cool cuff links for my honey- they would match my ring perfectly AND suggest the clock that is carried throughout the whole movie by that cute little rabbit. So vintage & modern at the same time.. You can find these in velvetmechanism's Etsy Shop.

Of course Ive been thinking of the main event in the movie- the beloved tea party!! Since our wedding will be in the evening, I thought it would set the mood to have tea cup candles on all of the tables. I will personally be making these with Candleland, and they will look similar to this candle from mingledhues.
Next up are these heart shaped tea infusers... Perfect! I always thought that if I ever had a wedding I'd want the guests to leave with something they could actually use.
It is not only shiny and eye catching, but great for our theme. I think the Queen would approve =)

These little teapots would be great for placecard holders, but I doubt I'll be making placecards for the wedding. I might have to incorporate them some other way though, they are so cute.

And finally, the cake!!! I have to have a crooked/ topsy turvy cake- and I've found many interesting ones. Here is one that it extremely whimsical and I love it!

Alice in Wonderland Wedding!

Yes, that's right... Chris and I have decided on an Alice in Wonderland themed wedding. It's my favorite movie/ story of all time, and there are so many ways to incorporate the theme without going crazy overboard with it. I still want it to have a vintage feel, so I've decided to use original illustrations on my invitations, programs, etc. I have been working on one of the images today, and I finally think I've found a happy medium. It's the white rabbit of course, in all purple =) What do you think??

I'm Engaged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm finally engaged, and still in shock... Chris proposed last night! I am so proud of him for picking out the most perfect ring.. it's tanzanite and diamonds and it's beautiful!!! I had always dreamed of a beautiful purple engagement ring (of course!) and I finally have one. I thought I'd share a picture of it :)

I am super excited to start planning. As of right now we have no date or location set, so anything is possible. And of course I'm suddenly inspired to create some violet invitations!
